JAKUZI
Jakuzi is an Istanbul-based synth-pop band known for blending darkwave, post-punk, and new wave influences with Turkish lyrics. Founded in 2015 by Kutay Soyocak , the band quickly gained attention with their debut album, Fantezi Müzik (2017), which was later re-released by Berlin-based label City Slang. Their melancholic yet danceable sound, inspired by artists like John Maus, The Human League, and Depeche Mode, has resonated with audiences both in Turkey and internationally.
Their second album, Hata Payı (2019), further solidified their reputation with a darker and more introspective sound. The band’s latest album, Madalyon I (2024), continues their evolution, exploring themes of identity, transformation, and emotional struggle with a refined, cinematic production style.
Jakuzi has toured extensively across Europe, performing at major festivals and venues, and has built a loyal fanbase through their distinctive aesthetics, emotional depth, and dynamic live performances.
DARLING DARLENE
Indie rock outfit Darling Darlene let the skeletons out of the closet in their moody and naive approach to pop songwriting. The project is a clash between country and disco, arrangement and intuition, sincerity and stupidity in a 00’s fighting game arena, where the sharp pixelated edges are smoothed over by a dense mist.
The fog leaves you stumbling through blurry sonics and unclear narratives circling estrangement, strandedness and Sisyphean perseverance. Blindly, your hand catches a thread. Cutting through the ethereal is a trail of clear-cut melodies, simple percussive synthezisers, vocal harmonies and sharp song structures maintaining direction and form.
In late 2024, the first of a new breed of songs from the quartet, Mechanical Heart, emerged. A departure from the prior Dream Pop sound, the reclusive disco-rock track charts a grittier, darker path ahead for the group with several additional releases planned for 2025.
